I'd swap R2D2 and blasters, but outside of that, I pretty much agree....

I would've had Jar Jar Binks as #1, but overall an acceptable list.

Heard Lucas talking about the sounds years ago..the phaser's sound, or whatever the hell was he called em, were from a recording of wind affecting a power line on those tall, steel poles....

Yes good post. I always liked the sound effects in Star Wars. Number 7 and 8 were crushingly dull though (well they are from the prequels) and I'm not sold on 9 and 10. You could probably get all the classic SW sounds from the first trilogy.

Surely even the hyperspace-jump sound was better than 'random trade fed guy #1'

R2D2 did an excellent rendition of the Wilhelm Scream when he got shot in Episode 4... watch the sift again for the clip!

Everybody always talks about visual effects; it's cool to see a clip focusing on the audio side.

But I definitely would have found a spot for Chewbacca on this list. His voice had to be organic, natural and expressive but still not be recognizable as a specific animal. Maybe he's too well done--so that the editors here didn't think of him as an effect?

Yeah, the prequels ones left me flat, except maybe the Seismic detonator. Agree antonye, that Chewie was robbed - to not be in this list. Chordal growling is awesome.

Did anyone else think that the noise that Sebulba's pod racer made should have been on this list?

Yeah, my kids say our truck sounds a little like Sebulba's pod racer. I'm wondering if the tires are out of alignment.

#1 was obvious and the sound of those seismic charges is bad ass.
