Terry Pratchett On Life And Death

Skeevesays...

Pratchett's Alzheimer's is, to me, no less of a tragedy than Hitchens' cancer. It is such a loss to readers, and humanity in general, that such a brilliant man will lose his mental faculties and die before most truly appreciate his genius and before us fans have absorbed all he can tell us.

oh no, I had no idea of his medical problems I've just started reading through "the watch" discworld series recently, and have read some of his other stuff a while ago. Alzheimers is awful

I've seen Alzheimer's in action. It's perhaps the scariest thing I could get medically. This is from someone with cluster migraines. Loosing one's mind is a terrifying prospect.

My only memory of my grandmother is of this peculiar woman sitting in the corner of the room who never spoke a word and needed constant care. Truly there are worse things than death. At least Terry Pratchett poured a lot of himself into his books, he'll still be around long after he has departed.
