Skeevesays...Pratchett's Alzheimer's is, to me, no less of a tragedy than Hitchens' cancer. It is such a loss to readers, and humanity in general, that such a brilliant man will lose his mental faculties and die before most truly appreciate his genius and before us fans have absorbed all he can tell us.

My only memory of my grandmother is of this peculiar woman sitting in the corner of the room who never spoke a word and needed constant care. Truly there are worse things than death. At least Terry Pratchett poured a lot of himself into his books, he'll still be around long after he has departed.
