articiansays...This is a really special song to me even though I'm not really an aficionado of jazz. I first heard it in college, and since that time I have come across so many other people in completely different walks of life, geographical locations, and age groups, and they all are just as jazz-inept as I am but know it and love it just as well. It really has the ability to penetrate all sorts of cultures and eras. Very cool.
oblio70says...13 beats to the bar. I LOVE the improvisations of Desmond. Brubeck can only keep up, tho it's his composition. Great find! Beats the Take Five entry.

I'm not much of a Jazz fan either, but I know quality when I see/hear it [at least in MY mind] =o)
Fantomassays...This video is seven minutes and twenty five seconds long, and thus erroneously named.
That is all.

paul desmond is credited with writing the tune.
it's in 5/4
meaning 5 quarter note beats per bar
