plastiquemonkeysays...and here's another fujiya & miyagi video...
yoghurtsays...You should undiscard or repost that Collarbone video. It's pretty awesome too.
aidossays...that's incredible. do you think any of it's computer generated? lots of work gone into that one.
Grimmsays...Does look awesome....but I can't help but think that the close-ups are stop-motion and the rest is CG.
Sylvester_Inksays...It is mostly cg. There are plenty of programs out there that convert video to ascii that also allow you to substitute a set of pixels with an image. You just set a group of images from "lightest" to "darkest" and then run the video through the filter. Heck, even the close-ups could be done this way, as the images can be as detailed as you want.
Cool video nonetheless.
antsays...*geek
siftbotsays...Video added to geek channel (geek called by gold star member ant)
defsays...it would be awsome if they added some minor changes of shadows and placement of the dice. now its so CG, looks like a grid was streched over a normal vid.
brainsays...if it was not CG, a computer almost certainly told them what side of the dice to put where
SaNdMaNsays...Obviously CGI. Not impressed.
karaidlsays...Yea, HAD to be CGI. Could you imagine how long this would take by hand?
Farhad2000says...I doubt this is done by hand as well.
k8_fansays...I can think of two ways to do this with CGI. The first was already mentioned by Sylvester_Ink, pixel replacement. The second would be to write a "dice shader" in RenderMan (how things like the Sandman in Spiderman 3 was done). As this is entirely 2D, it's probably the former. Still cool.
