YouTube is doing a sweep of all Colbert videos because of comedy central I guess, dunno. Damn them to hell.

While looking for replacements for the dead Colbert vids I posted, I saw this. It's great. Watch before it's gone :-(

i dont get the comedy central sweep. the shows are topical, they could never sell them on DVD. why not keep them on youtube and use it for publicity for the show itself?

Trademark laws are such that if you allow people to abuse your intellectual property, your hold on it weakens. Even if they want to share it, for the valid reason you suggest above, it can hurt them b/c of how the legal system works, sadly - hence the hyena like behaviour.

It's promising to see CBS and others releasing "legit" clips we're free to post without fear of takedowns; if only they got more aggressive.

I'm confident that we will see the day - in fact, I just cited examples of it happening - where we (sifters) will be a highly courted "market"/group that professional programmers will want to curry favour with to promote their shows.

And with great power, comes great responsibility, yadda yadda, it's just videos, let's enjoy.

lol great vid... my favorite in a while, stone kicks some ass, colbert did surprising well at times, but sounds ultimately like he is trying to sound like Stone : )

Definitely DC, I've always thought that Colbert's persona was a riff on Stone, mostly.

DC and Dag, I think you're both right. Didn't Colbert say on his 60 Min. interview that he based his character on Phillips?

I've always been surprised that Colbert had his own show, I think he was a lot of fun on the Daily Show clips but on his own he's massive overload to me.
