choggiesays...The scene prior to this one in the film, boasts the longest pyrotechnical set-up in a motion picture, a half mile of explosions for the bug-strafing segment as the roughnecks land on Klandathu....by the way, the sequel to this film blew large, solid chunks!!!!!
wildmanBillsays...Nice choice FF! I almost posted this to my collective last week. It may be SciFi (and most definitely belongs in the Fandom) but there is a lot of flexin' too. So it gets double points from me!
fireflysays...Yeah choggie, just the cover art on the sequel was enough to keep me away. Did they just find some homeless guy to pose?

Plus I believe it was straight to DVD, never a good sign...!
and yeah, 'Bill I need to find some more for yours. Must reclaim my top spot Raven keeps snatching from me!
gorillamansays...It actually wasn't that bad for a straight-to-video. I enjoyed it.
fireflysays...We insects WILL get our revenge! oh, yes!
pyrexsays...I remember this was the first movie I snuck into, was 1 year below the film's age rating (oh teh noez!)
Made me lol then, still does. Excellent for some good ol' mindless bug-blastin' action, w00t!
Service guarantees citizenship. Would you like to know more?
pyrexsays...Also, I guess this was during the period when Hollywood was still on the fence about CG/real special effects, what with all the live pyrotechnics and stuff. I miss me some animatronics, heh.
ypsilonsays...Yay, Starship Troopers. I ordered the DVD in Australia because here in Germany there was no unrated version back then.
karaidlsays...good thing they had plastic helmets to protect them! that acid burns!
fireflysays...^ HA! plastic helmets!
marinarasays...You may love to trash the sequel, but I loved watching the sequel. Hell I love it more because finding the sequel was like a diamond in the rough.
Memoraresays...diamond in the rough?
as in Roughnecks?
as in RICO'S ROUGHNECKS!?
fireflysays...So that's 2 for the sequel and 1 against. Anyone else like it? I may have to see for myself after all...!
AnimalsForCrackerssays...The sequel was horrible, imo. Seconded with the comment on the horribly depressing DVD cover as well. Rented and watched this with the ole' man expecting pure testosterone in a can and even he came away saying, "Wtf?" Mind you this from a man who thinketh Cobra to be the best movie ever made.
vaporlocksays...Hard to be 100% sure from the error message but I think this is *dead
