Stacatto Interpretation of Prokofiev's Tocatta (very hard)

That movie Shine made people go nuts about Rachmaninov's third concerto, but I've never understood how people manage to play this at all. Prokofiev himself, a virtuoso in his time, could barely play it.

This is really a great performance. It's also a good interpretation. Almost everybody else plays it very blurrily.

Yes, while I did truly enjoy watching and listening, the entire time I watched I kept unintentionally repeating in my head (in an Austin Powers Voice) "That's NO WOMAN...It's a MAN, man!"

I don't see anything masculine about this..., What I do see is a level of concentration and command of ones faculties that very few are ever able to attain. The focus this piece demands is incredible and playing it in front of an audience takes even more so.

I'd tap that mid-chorus.

The amount of energy, focus and dedication it takes to play this is staggering. Incredible.
