YT: This is the Discovery Space Shuttle strapped to the back of a modified 747 flying over D.C. on the way to its resting place at the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum at Dulles airport on 4/17/12. Here it is seen flying over the Nation's Capitol and past the Washington Monument.

Back in '88 I got to be on the tarmac at an airforce base under a space shuttle strapped to a 747. If you have not seen it you can not imagine how massive that combination is.

What kind of escort did they have flying along with it? No one mentions it anywhere. Just kinda curious.
