This guy speaks a lot of truth. I don't think it's too late for the US though. There's still a chance to turn it around. Kucinich/Paul in 08.

If this is the end, if there is no way to save ourselves now, then I will stay until the ship goes down. Because if it happens then here is where the story will be, to witness one of the greatest colapses in history is a dubious honor that not many people get to have. I wouldnt forgive myself if i didnt stay till the end
