Now let's all imagine that same interview, but with Donald Trump.

Or Ted Cruz.

"Element? I don't believe in that science mumbo jumbo, God only created four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Now, let me get back to the important business of nuking anyone who disagrees with me even slightly."

I wonder who he voted for (or perhaps he didn't vote and that's why he thought he was out of a shot). In some ways I hope he is a Republican, because my god, you got to think politics in the US wouldn't be so fucked if there were more like him...

There is a danger of running into the fallacy of the middle ground here. "Listen to both sides" is all well and good when both sides can bring a rational argument based upon an agreed factual basis I. I wish I could listen to the Right's ideas on how to tackle climate change, for instance, but it doesn't seem they have any. and that's just nuts.

Maybe the problem is this: you don't care enough for what you have in common but instead choose to focus on your differences.

This video proves the point I try to make.
