endersays...Poor dog
deathcowsays...funny video, cute dog (with narcolepsy.. not so cute without!) I dont think the dog is suffering much.. except for THUD! THUD! on the tile floors. Might I suggest a heavy shag or ?berber? rug for your house, maam?
skfortysays..."Nothing unpleasant"...except for of course his jaw smashing on the tile.
bamdrewsays...Theres an old psychology course video of a Daschund with narcolepsy that is intensely cute. Mabye I'll post that. And maybe the fainting goats video... another classic this reminds me of. Good post.
Kruposays...Well, at least he's not alone - here's the cross-link http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=3850
bamdrewsays...favorite line; "'please help me, I'm trapped in this little furry, white, shell'"
also the reporter banter at the beginning is pretty classic.
parrasays...If he gets much worse, they really ought to have him put down. But there's something about his owner that tells me that she'd sooner euthanise her own grandson.
bamdrewsays...there are treatments for narcolepsy and cataplexy (see the cross-linked Daschund post for a narcolepsy medical comment http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=3850 ). unfortunately, the main treatment is apparently GHB, a highly controlled substance that vets may not be able to prescribe for a little pup.
BayAreaGuysays...Stanford University breeds narcoleptic doberman pinchers for research on this horrible disorder. Millions of humans also suffer from it, and there's no cure in sight. They know that it's related to a brain chemical called "hypocretin," but the only treatments so far are anti-convulsants and stimulants. Very sad.
