Shockwave hits building after rocket explodes on takeoff

I estimated the explosion took place around 3 km away. probably not a very safe distance if you happen to live near a rocket launch pad

I can't believe a rocket launch is allowed that close to an area where people actually live. Or vice versa.

So.. wait.. What was actually in that rocket?

This was the Proton-M crash in Bailkinor last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl12dXYcUTo. Its not the shockwave these folks have to worry about its the acrid smoke put out by the unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) fuel that the rocket uses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton-M).
