MINKsays...errr... wtf? what's the catch? lol!
Raytracesays...i guess the catch is that it won't be as good as a duracell?
MarineGunrocksays...Something tells me that I'm going to open up a lantern battery to find unusable cells. That would be my luck. I guess it doesn't hurt to try though!
conansays...problem is: compare the mA/h values of the AA's. They reach from 800mA/h in "cheap" models (which most likely you'll find in the 6V block) to over 2300mA/h in "premium" ones. That's the simple reason why duracell etc. are more expensive than your average wal mart ones...
Hexsays...what you get a high quality 6v battery from duracel?

joedirtsays...You guys are dumb. Anytime you see one of these "EARN ME SOME MONEY" clips that say, do this... it's is a scam.
Some idiot watched the 6V -> button cell video and made this POS video. Did you notice the "AA" all just fell out of the 12V? Wouldn't they need a better connection than just loosely sitting in there? There are some batteries like this, but they have soldered little tabs connecting each cell.
Also 32 1.5V batterys? Well you would need 8 in series and then 4 sets of 8 in parallel. So that is more complicated than just all arranged bottom-top in a casing. The average 12V latern will probably have a few monster cells hooked in series. If it is made up of "AA" they will have those tabs connecting them and also they won't be standard "AA" AmpHr rating.

Grimmsays...I googled this last night....every post that I could find of people that actually tried this had the same results...no AA batteries. All of them opened it to find 4 larger then C batteries but also not a D battery. I guess the biggest giveaway should have been that it originated from "gagfilms.com"
Ickstersays...Even if there were a bunch of loose AA batteries inside, they'd be the el cheapo "heavy duty" (like it says on the outside of the battery in the video) rather than alkaline.
arvanasays...Well I had to try this myself, and guess what? No AA cells, just four large cells like everybody says.
But that still doesn't prove that there might not be some brands that use AA cells. Still, I think everybody is right, their amp-hours likely wouldn't be up to the standard of "It keeps going, and going, and going...."
