joedirtsays...I hope this backfires on Bush.. He up'd the verdict two weeks just to fill the news cycle for the elections. I hope he realizes that full on civil war sucks.
Maybe the news *should* be about the report that in 1999, the military knew Iraq would be a mess and need twice as many troops as we have over there
theo47says...The video itself doesn't suggest an up or down vote, but yeah - this is certainly the October (November?) Surprise that Rove was alluding to when asked about it not long ago.
It's too bad for him that the American public has already made up their minds about this war and this administration, and will be kicking the bastards out.
TimothyChenAllensays...Wow. We can actually kill someone on schedule to meet our political ends.
I mean, I'm not for capital punishment, but if anyone should get it, it's probably this guy. And yet, it seems incredibly cold and cynical to actually schedule sentencing just to make an election go one way or another. It stops being about the Kurds and starts being about politics.
I feel manipulated.
Marasays...I would be really surprised if I met one person who could say this swayed them to vote differently in ANY way. *shakes head and walks away*
deathcowsays...Damn .. mute saddam translation so we can hear the judges verdict translation... Saddam probably liked life better five years ago on his fancy yachts with his nice cigars and concubines.
ex-jedisays...Hey, isn't that Donald Rumsfeld's mate?
Dr.Conspiracysays...37.0 million people live in poverty in the U.S.
A record-setting 46.6 million Americans were without heath insurance in 2005, up from 45.3 million in 2004, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report.
MY JOB THAT I HAD FOR 15 YEARS WAS CLOSED DOWN AND MOVED OVERSEAS FOR CHAPER LABOR! (1300 GOOD PEOPLE ON THE STREET) I WAS MAKING ABOUT $1200 A WEEK ....NOW I MAKE $350 A WEEK! ....SO HOW DO YOU THINK I'M VOTING???
....TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE (AND SENATE)
REPUBLICANS HAVE NOT DONE SHIT FOR ME!!
deathcowsays...> REPUBLICANS HAVE NOT DONE SHIT FOR ME!!
Well... duh... you're not a corporation. They only help corporations.
mlxsays...Apparently I should change the tags to "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, election fraud."
er, no. Actually I posted this in celebration of the people of Iraq and the courage of their new government.
choggiesays.......and so it goes, the pep rally has brought the fans to the arena, and both sides scream, as programmed.....you think the other assholes will do any better???...Its a blank realization that brings the sensible man to the conclusion that the revamp is long overdue, and that the lesser of two evils game will bite us all on the ass......
EMPIREsays...When is Bush's verdict being read? I want to know what happens to THAT bad guy.
joedirtsays..."the lesser of two evils" argument kind of failed.. and most Repubs now realize they voted for the most evil of evils. Whatever your hypothetical worst case scenario.. America could never be worse off than what Bush has done. The economy. Your security (ask people from NOLA). Your liberty and freedoms (Patriot Act, Torture Bill, Habeaus Corpus, Posse Commitatus, the Marshall Law executive order). Foreign diplomacy. The state of the US military (taking prisoners, lowest admission standards, enlistment age up to 42 yrs now). Corporate welfare & cronyism (Energy policy, Enron, Oil company profits, Big Pharma, bankruptcy laws, NAFTA / CAFTA / WTO / outsourcing AND getting a write off for sending jobs overseas).
LadyBugsays...death by hanging .... so archaic!
when does bush's trial start for his crimes on humanity??
rickegeesays...It took long enough. I guess free Iraq does not have a speedy trial provision on the books yet.
But this is a good day for Iraq. Saddam should have been shot in the spider hole. The timing of the sentencing is . . .um . . .interesting.
theo47says...I think we get your lack of faith in the political system by now, choggie - it's not necessary to make the same comment over and over, thanks.
deathcowsays...> The timing of the sentencing is . . .um . . .interesting.
They should have tied it directly to the election... Diebold could put a "Kill Saddam" button on their voting screens, a real time vote, with a real time outcome.
rickegeesays...I don't know why Virginia did not add "Kill Saddam" as a ballot initiative.
Now the world will never know where Virginia stands on the issue.
