Real life sea serpent caught on film

A real life sea serpent, the oar fish, caught alive on film for the first time.

He means longest bony fish. Though... with the number of these we've seen (and measured, compared to the number of whale sharks we've seen (very common), I'd lay my money on the oar fish being the longest fish.

Ah, this is the fish you see all over Thailand being held by a group of US service men. They believe it's a naga that they pulled out of the Mekong during the Vietnam war. Actually it just washed up on a San Diego beach in 1996

Very cool. I can absolutely understand how ancient people seeing this might have thought it was a naga or a sea-serpent or a water dragon. Then as stories grow over telling them they get bigger and meaner looking.

Very cool to see one alive.

I just had a dream about this thing.. and I can telly you from personal experience, it wasn't completely harmless.
It broke through the partially melted ice of a hockey rink and tried to eat a bunch of players. Then I jumped in an grabbed it by the mouth, and it kept trying to bite me (it's teeth had grown).
I kept thinking, "oh man, I'm so glad this thing isn't a squid. Then I'd be screwed!"
