I think she revealed a bit too much info in this. Career limiting, off-putting not only to her subscribers, but prospective agents.
With no expertise to draw from, I also dare ponder if this video actually serves his psycho ego beyond the content. He wants reaction and know he still impacts her, and this is a really fulsome response than he could ever have had otherwise, and more than in person, he can watch this over and over knowing she consciously shot this, edited it, and posted it for all to see.

My uninformed opinion is that I think she needs therapy, further therapy. I'm not saying that flippantly - her having experienced what she did, she may not ever be over it, but posting a public YouTube video with this details and introspection may not provide her with the solace she's seeking. And even if that's not what she's seeking, I don't think it helps.

I am glad she did this, I just wish there wouldn't always have to be the "it's an act" reaction. It's understandable that, when faced with something so horrible, we wish it were not true. That being said, it's important to be aware that questioning a woman's (or man's) honesty in the case of sexual abuse can be extremely hurtful to the victim (and other victims of SA who are reading those remarks), who can feel like their trust is being abused once again. I was quite disgusted when looking up this story to find that all of the news outlets stressed the fact that "some commenters questioned the veracity of her claims", as if there is any validity to what some idiot redditors have to say.

As difficult as this must be, I think more people should do it. Everyone (or almost everyone) knows the horrifying statistics of sexual abuse, but they're just numbers. It's testimonies like this that bring the reality of it all home (and, hopefully, the ass-hole perps straight to prison).

My uninformed opinion is that I don't think you ever get over something like this, never mind how much therapy you have. Scar tissue and all that. Seems to me that she is coping as best you'd expect given the circumstances.


Her video serves a second purpose, beyond just her personal catharsis. Rape is too common, a sense of solidarity might go some way to helping those victims.

Anyway. I hope she continues to use her channel regardless of whether this rapist unsubs. I'm not sure what legal recourse she'd have there. Still, living well is the best revenge.
