JiggaJonsonsays...I feel truly sorry for those poor bastards having to read that entire bill aloud. If Republicans are trying to win me over by dragging their feet in every way possible here, they are failing miserably.
Nithernsays...What? A Republican being a hypocrit? Oh....just business as usual for Republicans for the last decade. But yeah, I'm with JiggaJonson, in that if Republicans are trying to move me to their position, they are failing.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...I don't get how anyone could vote republican. They achieve nothing. They contribute nothing. They exist to massage the prostate of corporations.

honkeytonk73says...Jesus doesn't believe in healthcare. That is why the Repugs are blocking it. They simply want everyone to use magical prayer.. because as we all know. It works far better than what any health practitioner can provide. If a priest is not available.. a voodoo doctor will of course suffice.

While I don't necessarily think that you're going to win over anyone with the prostate comment, your basic assessment isn't far off. Remember that most people get their politics from their parents, so really overt and generalized criticism tends to fall on deaf ears. Then again, this is the interweb, so there's not much persuading to be had, anyway.
That being said, your comment reminds me of something that Jon Stewart said a number of years ago that really resonated with me. I really wish I could find a clip of it, but he was saying that he didn't understand the basic fundamental view of conservatism, in that by definition they want to maintain the status quo, and are therefore by default are opposed to progress, and that the tenets of conservatism seem to be rooted in the fear of change. What really stuck out, though, was his observation that throughout history, in the long run, conservative movements and viewpoints always lose.
Progress wins out, eventually, every time.

Wow, your ignorance and prejudice astounds me. Have you ever read the Bible?
Deuteronomy 26:12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
You will find that compassion and responsibility to the poor are a recurring theme throughout the Bible.
To say Republicans are Christians and Democrats are not is pure nonsense. Why the hateful post? Did some hypocritical Priest abuse you? Sure the world is full of hypocrites, that doesn't make Gods word non-effect. Open your mind and you may find some of the kindest people do believe is Jesus.
Otherwise if you can't be tolerant of Christians at all, you could move to China where the government shares your disbelief in God, and all human rights are controlled by the government. I'm sure their medical benefits for the common peasant/man are wonderful.

I see your 'don't vote for corporatist Republicans' and raise you a 'don't vote for corporatist Democrats'.
