Well, yeah, they kinda touted it as being Elite, when it wasn't really that open, but the reviews I was referring to are recent ones, so no system requirements come into it these days.

honkeytonk73says...The privateer series was a blast. While not Elite by any means it was uniquely its own. I think I still have Privateer I stowed away. Not sure about Privateer II though. Probably not worth loading up, I'd probably be sorely disappointed these days
CrushBugsays...Elite was freaking awesome.
antsays...I never knew there was a sequel. I couldn't get into the first game either.
syncronsays...The system requirements weren't high, it was a DOS game lol. Why a software company would code a major release title for DOS after win95 was released is beyond me. It received poor ratings because of dated technology and how buggy the game was occasionally. I remember playing this game back in my early teens, it was pretty memorable I enjoyed it despite it's flaws.
Oh I think they released a gold version of the game later that ran under windows.
enemycombatantsays...Wow the first few minutes of that made every Command and Conquer cut-scene look like Citizen Kane. For me, Clive will always be BMW's The Driver.
cheesemoosays...I was expecting a sequel to the original Privateer when I bought this game, and was sorely disappointed.
