man, i could seriously see those being used by the military. Urban transit presents an interesting array of obstacles, and it's cool to see stuff like this and parkour, imagine the parkour kids with a pair of these.

I just don't understand why, in the several times they do it, when they jump from a high level, they don't go with the spring action. They jump off of a small building, but only show us how well they can land? Strange.

Addressing KaiEr's comment, you'll notice the boots attach at the lower leg, in order to allow free movement of the knee. Because of this the straing of jumping from a high ledge or a roof is still transfered directly to the knee, though the compression is spread out in time slightly due to the spring boards.

In order to spring off the ground after a high fall, significant strain would be placed at the knees joints and back, and if your legs were set nearly straight to maximize the bounce you would be risking hyperextension as well as an out of control high bounce that might end with you landing hard on your side from extra high or at a significant horizontal velocity.
