chingalerasays...The pen he had in his nub was simply a diversion. He had a toe-pistol.
EvilDeathBeesays...The pen is mightier than the sword... but not a 9mm
Is this kind of BS happening more now, or are just hearing about it more? This is not the first, nor second or third time I've heard a story of police using way too much force (sometimes deadly) on someone who posed as much threat to a supposedly trained police officer as a bee
Yogisays...With a title like that I thought this was going to be a joke. @EvilDeathBee, I think we're hearing about it more, but it is true that police are more separated from the people they are policing than ever before. They're guards in big prisons, not members of the community as they should be.

Velocity5says...A belligerent wielding a knife can cause serious injury, even if he doesn't have legs. (Stop discriminating against the disabled.)
Cops value their health more than we value their lives (approximately zero), so they're obligated to treat "appears to be a knife" as "a knife."
Try not to threaten cops with knife-like objects and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble.

How could someone who can't move down stairs be a threat with a knife you idiot. Take two steps back and you're in no danger.

Ha. Once you're out of 2nd grade you'll realize that belligerents can throw knives much farther than 2 steps.

And once you actually try and THROW A KNIFE you'll realize how difficult is it to actually get it to stick to anything at all. Also IT'S A PEN! Cops must be the most blind people on the planet.

I've seen a lot of knives thrown well.
Cops are never going to risk their safety needlessly just so the public can insist on having single-digit IQs.

No offense dude but cops know what they're getting into when they choose the profession. As sad as it is, a real bad guy killing a cop who is using caution is preferable to a cop who is not using caution killing someone who in reality poses little threat.
