... so they used a much shorter stick than previous experiments and practically stood right on top of it.

(I assume they did this several times before they setup the cameras though)

Also, why does he have to create his own charcoal? Can't just buy a bag of Kingsford at the local grocers?
maybe the commercial stuff has other additives that would have created a different reaction?

Sounds like this guy has an awesome job. "Let's see what happens when we introduce this flaming object into this flammable material!"

He may have a different idea of "peacefully" than I do.
