Will Smith will always be one of the best "pop" performers in my book. He's great in film, TV, music...AND he's a nice guy.

I always thought he would do more serious roles, but maybe those choices made him happy. I'll bet his film sets were always a blast.

Met Jazzy Jeff last year- nice guy. He signed my copy of "I'm the Rapper, He's the DJ". These guys, like it or not, did a lot to bring "hip-hop" to the mainstream (meaning white people).

Not always the best choices in terms of movies. I mean did you know that he passed on The Matrix to be in that movie called the Wild Wild West? You remember that film? Do you? Case in point

TRB - They did "no race" rap. The color of a person's skin was never an issue in their songs. I wish more people took that lead...

daph: my point was that these guys were so squeaky-clean in their image and lyrics that the acceptance that they engendered for the art form really opened the door for other hip-hop artists that followed.
