alien_conceptsays...One person had questioned on YouTube how the hell he wouldn't have screamed out loud while having his nose caved in. If you had your nose hit repeatedly like this over and over you wouldn't be able to let in enough breath to scream, I wouldn't have thought.
siftbotsays...Moving this video to alien_concept's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 3 days.
alien_conceptsays...*beg
siftbotsays...Sending this video to Beggar's Canyon to plea for a little attention - beg requested by original submitter alien_concept.
poolcleanersays...I hate when people forget to include the scenes pay off. The next thing that evil prick does is open the satchel and finds that the peasants were telling the truth: they were simply hunting rabbits.
Also, note, that the two peasants are father and son; so he's hammering in the son's face in front of his father, right before he executes them both. I can almost feel the pain, the humiliation, the pure powerlessness and the need for revenge every single time I see watch that clip.
Fuck. Goddamn it. I need to watch the comeuppance scenes now or I will just be pissed off for the rest of the day.
Aha! Acting!
Still... damn...
budzossays...I've been a fan of Guillermo Del Toro since I saw Cronos in 1997, and I fucking hate Pan's Labyrinth.
I don't see the value in posting horrible violence like this without context.
alien_conceptsays...I don't see why there always has to be value in something really, it is what it is. As I said in the blurb at the top, this extreme violence in the movie is interweaved with the most beautiful fantasy. THAT is what makes this film so powerful in my opinion. This is a case point
budzossays...The title is wrong. This isn't even a scene. It's an excerpt from a scene.
There's no fantasy interwoven in that clip. I don't understand why you think it's worth posting unless you enjoy seeing people murdered with no context whatsoever. You didn't even include the whole scene. that would make this clip a small story unto itself. As it is it's just snuff.
This clip actually has negative value as I feel it takes away from the viewing experience for those who have not yet seen the film. I will always downvote clips like this, same as:
- Any "X Production" where some asshole has laid his favourite music over film footage (90% of the time it's from Requiem For A Dream)
- Posts showing all the good parts of a movie
- Posts of highly cinematic scenes that do not belong in Flash Video format
- Spoilers, final scenes, opening scenes, key scenes
alien_conceptsays...I do see your point actually, but I hadn't made any illusion of the fact that it was a nasty violent scene as the title quite clearly shows. This is just a clip of how gruesomely violent this film can be. I think saying it's snuff is just being overdramatic, seeing as it quite clearly is fiction. Of course you're right, this doesn't give any context of the film, but that's quite obvious, most clips don't. I think you're wasting time better spent on watching vids you may have a chance of liking rather than something that from what you've said, you were going to hate anyway. Maybe just the chance to vent your spleen a little bit? I dunno, whatever. An opinion is and will always be appreciated by me.
gwiz665says...The thing about Pan's Labyrinth is that the most gruesome violence is in "real life" and the fantasy is pretty "nice" compared to it. I like the movie and this scene was grim and nasty.
gwiz665says...I'm gonna *promote this and make the following analogy, the nose guy is Palestine and the Captain is Israel. Just before this scene the guy kicked the captain over the shin.
siftbotsays...Promoting this video back to the front page; last published Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 3:01am PDT - promote requested by gwiz665.
