Olbermann on the "Media Blackout" of Occupy Wall Street

September 21, 2011 CURRENT TV Keith Olbermann.

If Occupy Wall Street just called themselves "Tea Party protests" the TV cameras would show up, right?

They're doing a pretty good job ignoring these protests that's for sure but no doubt it's rattled some cages. If it didn't bother them they'd gladly report on it, if it's not a threat they'll talk about it or just make fun of them like the Tea partiers. However if you're a threat, you're marginalized as much as possible and that's what's being executed here very effectively.

@Trancecoach I'm not sure what you mean here. That article isn't talking about the protests being a smokescreen, it was suggesting that the recent litigation between Wall-Street firms could merely be posturing.

The Modern Mythology page (i.e. the original article posting) questioned whether the #occupywallstreet movement actually had any clearly defined goals and if it adhered to them.

I wouldn't say there's any doubt that the protests were from the grass-roots. Unless I've just completely misread you?

No, not paid or "artificial".. Just impotent and without any directive or strategy.. Truth is, I don't know, and posted the article to find out...

"What are the objectives of this protest? How does it intend to accomplish them? Is it preaching to the choir, or will it actually convert fence sitters?"

is it too cynical to think the entire movement is pretty much a smokescreen?

You think these people were...paid I'm guessing? I don't understand disinformation doesn't really understand either but that's not surprising.
