On the one hand, that old person is an incredible asshole doing their best to traumatize a train driver, but on the other hand that crossing seems ridiculously unsafe. What the hell, Brazil.

Yeah, not seeing any flashing lights, dropdown barriers, or anything to indicate a train is coming, other than the train itself of course. There's no audio, so I wonder if the train driver was blasting his horn as he should be coming up to a crossing?

There are dropdown barriers and lights in place. Without audio or a better angle on the lights it's hard to say whether or not the lights are working or if there are bells clanging. That being said the layout of infrastructure at this location seems inherently dangerous.
