New Mexico - The best place in the Universe...

Definitely got an "office" jive about this one.

Seems people in New Mexico don't like it. The scary monsters will drive away tourists I guess...

I liked it.

I visited Roswell a few years ago. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The alien "museum" was a gift shop.

I was much more impressed by the VLA just down the road. (I had seen Contact recently).

My parents live in Las Cruces and there are many, many aliens there. But it is a border town.

I was just about to downvote after suggesting *wtf, but alright, I'll be gentle - I can see how some may like it. I guess you'd have to know something about New Mexico. Which I don't.

Um, actually, this is kinda supposed to be funny because the very first commercial spaceport is being built here. http://www.gadling.com/2007/11/19/virgin-galactic-builds-spaceport-in-new-mexico-desert/ it was a controversial thing. (still is?) I think they actually created a NM Spaceport authority to approve it. Virgin Galactic & some billionaire. Not far from me, in fact.
And, it just might be that of all the places aliens could choose to land on this wonderful Earth, they would choose NM for the same reasons I did~because it IS the greatest place on Earth! (ok,ok, so maybe they would kinda have to because we have the only spaceport on Earth...whatever!)
p.s. I don't live in Roswell!

I wouldn't say gorgeous. The eastern side of the state is pure desolation. Small towns are filled with idiots. The cops are jerks. We've got "Homeland Security" pricks acting like Rambo. The central region is nice, but it still doesn't compare to Colorado or Wyoming. Probably the best thing about New Mexico is that there are virtually no people here.

No, I would disagree. I lived there for six years and the diversity in landscape is staggering. Sure, there's some desolation, but even that has it's own beauty. It also has mountains, forests, lakes, caves, ancient civilizations, canyons, valleys, and rivers. If you're an outdoors person, it has everything you would ever want. I would agree that the cops are jerks, but no more than most places. There are idiots everywhere and enjoying a place has to do with being there with people you like. I've never been to Wyoming, but Colorado is too sterile for me. The mountains are nice, but everything's too expensive and everyone is ridiculously protestant.

I agree with snowman- New Mexico is beautiful. I especially like the Organ Mountains - Silver City and other little artsy towns that are scattered around. Taos is way too commercial.
