Farhad2000says...Break the record and lose your mortgage.
deathcowsays...nvidia 8800's..... BUTTTT I just bought my 7900s.....
ChosenOnesays...I wouldn't get the 8800's yet. First Quarter the G84 and G86 cores will most likely go up for sale affecting the price market.. unless $ isn't a problem.
Farhad2000says...I wouldn't buy anything computer based now, with the shift to PCI-e, Vista and DX10 Cards. Sit and wait is the best advice.
choggiesays.......I'll be glad when we get the shit the military has had for the last 25 years, whatever that is.....Near future, silicone is replaced with......quartz??/Diamonds?

I wouldn't say that, there is seriously good gaming out right now that lays waste to the consoles. 1600x1200 at 50 fps+.. thats the Rx for a good time. PCI-e is here to stay, I would never buy an AGP card thats for sure. DX10 is interesting point but Vista is not related.
Farhad2000says...I think you misunderstood what I meant Deathcow, let me clarify. Right now it's pointless buying these products because they are geared for DX9+Windows XP systems, and are ridiculously high priced obviously. Once DX10+Vista is released all those technologies geared for DX9+WindowsXP will fall in real price because manufacturers will switch into the newer hardware production. The first DX10 cards are coming out, prices in older DX9 are falling even though there is no game out right now that supports DX10.
Thus sit and wait. Never buy first generation products.
antsays...I am getting a 7900 PCIE card for my next upgrade.
cobaltsays...I've got an X1800XT right now and I don't intend to upgrade again until the second gen DX10 cards come out. I'm interested to see whether it will be nVidea or AMD who has the best DX10 solution.
Heck until recently I was still using a 9800pro, although that card has aged exceptionally well and can still get decent performance if you don't mind loosing the eye-candy.
antsays...I had an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AIW, but games got too slow. I love eyecandies, but can't afford the latest stuff. Also, I am sticking with NVIDIA so I can get the best support under Linux.
Farhad2000says...I had a 9800 PRO and I just couldn't stand the choppiness anymore and ditch it for a marginal upgrade with the ATI/AMD Radeon X800 GTO (I thought I bought the pipe unlockable version but alas no.)
If you are looking for something cheap and good from Nvidia, you can't go wrong with the 6600.
antsays...6600? Yuck. 6800 is still slow for me, but then I am stuck with AGP at the moment until I upgrade my whole system.
Farhad2000says...Well there is the BFG GeForce 7800GS OC 400MHZ 256MB 1.25GHZ GDDR3 AGP8X Video Card (phew!). Check it out here.
antsays...Dang, 338 bucks and rebate. Too much!
I am upgrading my box soon so another month with this 6800 card.
Farhad2000says...Send me your 6800
My birthday is this month! I'll send you something for your in January
antsays...No way, dude. I am keeping it for my old Linux box.
