NASA's Perseverance rover approaching Mars

This Thursday Perseverance will land on Mars, one way or another.

It's using similar techniques to Curiosity's successful landing in 2012, but with additional onboard intelligence and control.

More attempts to land on Mars have failed than succeeded - the atmosphere's thick enough to destroy the craft from friction, but too thin to land with just a parachute - so let's hope this will balance that scale a little.
