Right you are Farhad. Great movie - I love how Miyazaki has always had a thread of green preservation in his flicks. This is, I think, his best movie, even though it came out way back in '87. It's also my kids' favorite. (Spirited Away is a bit too freaky for them).

They like to watch the DVD in the original Japanese, even though they don't understand much - because the voice actors are so much better, and the words are cool sounding.

kuro-kuro kurosuke, donguri etc.

Ohhhh Totoro...better in the original, this film is quintessential Japanimation,...kids love it sure, but doesn't it take the adult in you back to the land within??

Catbus. This move taught me the word.

My kids absolutely loved it. Did he do Kiki's Delivery service? My daughter loves that one. We just saw one with a cat kingdom that kidnaps a girl to be the cat prince's bride. What was the name?

Miyazaki and his crew have always had a wonderful idea of what it's like to be a child with limitless imagination. One of the best scenes in the movie immediately follows the end of this clip, with a Catbus - which only the children can see - zooming through the fields and forests.

My favorite movie was always Castle Laputa. The music theme with the old man in the mines when he turns off the lantern always stuck with me through college. Excellent stuff!
