More Flashlight Overclocking

Make 100 dollar flashlight for 10 dollars
joedirtsays...

What a douche.

First of all, this Krypton bulb is rated for 15 hrs avg life. So goodluck with your flashlight, at $1.50 replacement per bulb.

Ok, now on to power requirements. Bulb is rated at 650mA at 6V, but idiot video make is using (3) of them, so overvoltage on bulb seriously reduces it's life. Ok.. so maybe at 9V we are talking about 800mA or something.

Now the batteries. I don't know what planet this idiot comes from but those camera batteries are muy expensivo. The CR123's typically cost $5-$10. Sounds fun! For you flashlighting needs, this thing is getting expensive. $15 AT LEAST to replace your flashlight batteries. Typical CR123 is rated at 1400mAh... So hurrah, you might get six hours of lifetime from your new flashlight. Series batteries doesn't exactly scale compared to parallel connection at 3V.. But close enough first order approx. Heck, let's be generous and assume the darn thing last a whole 12 hours that the lightbulb will last!

So there you go.
$18 flashlight that last 12 hours.

If you are going to do this, at least go with the halogen blub. (Catalog #: 272-1189) Which is rated for 25hrs avg life.

That and 5.2V and 850mA, so go with two 3V batteries, and see how bright it is. (At 5.2V the halogen is rated 20% brighter than the krypton at 6V) Sure your flashlight is now smaller, so cut the end of plastic, or throw in a spring or aluminum foil into the end of it.
