Hoax? Maybe. It is unproven, but certainly not impossible.

It would help if he still had the part that was chopped off so it could be confirmed how much bone was lost (if any).

I am sure downvoting that comment makes the story in the video perfectly valid. Makes perfect sense really. Please stick to the cat videos instead of clogging the science channel with bullshit. Thanks and hopefully downvote again, since that apparently 'validates' your actions.

Reading the articles posted above does suggest this should be removed from the science channel, since they both indicate that there are no peer reviewed articles verifying the claims/conclusions.
