Milky Way and Andromeda collision seen from Earth

Computer simulation of the predicted collision in 3 billion years between the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies as it will look from the Sun. The two projections shown are all sky and hemispheric. This is a computer simulation done by http://www.galaxydynamics.org/

Very cool video, but isn't this a bit outdated?

At the American Astronomical Society meeting this January someone announced that the Milky Way is 50% more massive and moves faster than previously thought:

I think they'll need to run another simulation...

Alright, guys. We've got 3 billion years to either get off this rock or build a Galaxy Deflection Shield. It's time to start.

"Collision" seems like too strong of a word for that.

No worries... we'll all have sprouted white bird wings and dematierialized for a haloed existence in a magical alternate reality. The rapture if you will.
