choggiesays......yeeess, frustrated for hours..
Raytracesays...i think creating a shutdown shortcut and putting an internet explorer icon on it is better.
Kruposays...Go #100!
You *don't* need to hit "apply" before "okay"! Sheesh! I know this prank though - amusing tutorial.
pallensays...OMG NOW I NO HWO 2 H4X0R COMPUTARZ!!
LadyBugsays...i am a big fan of hitting 'apply' before 'ok', even though my husband has given me that advice a countless number of times, krupo!! heeheee
winkler1says...such a simple concept..but soo many freakin steps.
College prank - found a utility to rename the laser printers on the network. It was funny to watch to chaos ensue and the IT guys scramble when no one could print
cobaltsays...Better version of this is to create a folder called something like "donkey sex" and then take the screenshot. Then only delete that folder so when you apply the desktop everything works except that one offensive folder which they can't get rid of
Its less obvious than when the entire desktop doesn't work.
pho3n1xsays...what if, like me, you don't have any desktop icons to begin with?
when computers at work are left unlocked, all kinds of jokes get played. my personal favorite is a scheduled task, every minute, that locks the desktop. you enter your password, or press enter if you don't have one, and you're good to go.........for the next ~50 seconds anyway, or until you delete the scheduled task.
cardboardhutsays...For HOURS?
Flotxsays...it seems like you'd just try right clicking one of the icons after the first few left clicks, and then realise that it's only the background... but then again, why would you try this prank on someone computer savvy? yes, go for the weak! nice tutorial
Semiapiessays...This is a truly ancient prank, dating back to at least Win95.
I like cobalt's variant, though.
Kruposays...*howto
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Howto) - requested by Krupo.
Artsays...He missed a few things, such as hiding the taskbar so the start menu is also gone. Also edit out one of the icons and make a real one to replace it and make it a shortcut to "C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00" or you can set all the shortcuts with this, just make sure to set the icon to that of the original. The shortcut to win95-98 is to rundll32.exe but I cant remember the flags to make it shutdown.
Now that will make people crazy. "My computer box shuts down when I go to the internet and nothing else works!!"
maatcsays...My favourite one: Swapping keys on the keyboard. Works especially well with keys next to each other like "m" and "n", and with people who depend on the visual "two finger typing".
We did it to a colleague once and it freaked him out. He called IT and they could not figure it out because is so subtle and the keyboard looks almost normal. They thought someone switched it from European to US Format (which switches keys like "Y" and "Z"). They ended up giving him a new keyboard.
videosiftbannedmesays...Fuck dude, clean your keyboard. That's digusting...
(A favorite of mine has been going into Display and changing the full Recycle Bin icon to the empty Recycle Bin icon and vice versa. That's also HOURS of entertainment...
jonnysays...*dead
