Medieval Warm Period - Fact vs Fiction

There is very good reason to be patronizing to people who are pretending that they are knowledgable of a subject they clearly haven't the first clue about. It's a public service.
Liars and charlatans need to be mocked and derided.

Then it is just preaching to the choir, as you won't win them over with such a tone. If your efforts aren't to win them over, but rather call them out on lies and deceit then all you need are facts. I just don't think this is going to win anyone over, and if it isn't, then what is it's purpose exactly? I mean, we don't need to ridicule Aristotle for his theory of movement to know that Newtonian or Einsteinian models are superior. Perhaps not everyone can be as soft touch as Neil Degrasse Tyson, but I can't really support other modes of public criticism with conscience.

Mann was the original author of the hockey stick graph. Go use google scholar and follow the actual published scientific journals related to his work. His most recent re-publication of his own even includes a new method that he states within his paper as being the method that HE holds as the most confident. It shows past global temperatures exceeding current levels twice over the last 2k years.

More over, statisticians, with zero agenda in anything, have absolutely murdered his earlier work, most punishingly observing a complete absence of any manner of measure for margins of error. The recommend numerous improvements and provide examples.

Expect more work on this to change the picture and anyone smugly calling it all over to be utterly ignorant of what science in fact is. Meanwhile, even the original authors like Mann are actively working on improved methods that ARE painting a less terrifying picture than the original hockey stick.

Speaking of, here is a new modeling based in a statistical model instead of climate models directly. They concluded that warming is indeed happening, perhaps not as large as other models though. They even attribute the last 250 years of warming as man made, even as they were previous warming skeptics. Ironically, climate and weather are some of the hardest things model and yet, most important for continued life on this planet. With more and more studies showing CO2 being a large issue, it is a cry that is quickly becoming hard for the skeptic to ignore.

On that note, did you know that without the atmosphere, the earth would be −18°C? The Greenhouse effect keeps us alive, but as we can see with Venus, it can also make us dead. But there are about 8123918237912837 *citation needed* things that effect the weather/climate as well, so always best to be vigillant in that area.
