So you're going to prove an idiot wrong with another idiots testimony? Peter Joseph of "Zeitgeist" which is a movie that espouses 3 of the biggest conspiracy theories ever, without proving anything. Wonderful, education is permanently dead then.

Every time I say things like this, my feminist friends tell me I'm blaming the victim.

These stats are old -- but something like 80% of attacks against women are from single unarmed assailants.

They are looking for a victim, not a fight.

So any type of resistance increases a woman's likelihood of escaping rape.

A self defense class I took years ago taught us how to effectively use our legs to resist -- much stronger than arms, and keeps the attacker farther away. So they taught us in certain circumstances to play "weak" until the attacker moves to take off clothing, then shout NO and kick the bejeebers out of them.

It has been a long time since that class, but I review the basic concepts now and again and find that I still remember them.

Single. UNARMED. Assailants. This may change once women learn to fight back -- those creeps plan on women succumbing to victim-status now. Once our culture changes, they may change.

And for god's sake, women, don't get blotto drunk. Men, you too. It's just stupid.

In fairness, I don't think there is any way to protect against that type of attack. These are an effective deterrent, but I don't think the manufacturer is claiming they will protect you from every scenario.

Good point, when she mentioned studies on "resistance" I was skeptical they could really be equated with difficult clothing. And, while I think this would probably do more good than harm, there are some worrying scenarios. For example they say it could protect unconscious women from having their shorts cut away. But a prolonged knife attack on super tight fitting shorts sounds like it would result in lots of cutting.
