McCain Claims Obama Rally Crowds Call Him Terrorist, Traitor

Asmosays...

In other news, John McCain is highly offended by people hating him because of his obvious African American background and Eastern sounding name, Muslim father and "terrorist fist bumping" wife Cindy...

/endsarcasm

Anyone who votes for McCain at this point is either ignoring common sense and the knowledge that this guy is completely witless to try and preserve what is left of the Republican party, or just too f#cking stupid to understand they are being spoonfed pure 100% bullshit...

Either way, heaven help America if he wins...

While i agree Chilaxe and that's a valid point... there is quite a bit of difference...

For one i think there IS a pretty good argument to be made that Bush is a criminal... I don't recall hearing this specifically applied to McCain though...

I also think that shouting it in personal and with a mob... on camera... is very different... expressing it online anonymously... is... well little more than Internet tough guy syndrome... I am certain that there probably have been instances of such things at obama rallies... However... I haven't seen any evidence of it yet... and the frequency at this point I suspect is horribly unbalanced in favor of McCain's supporters.

I just think there is a pretty tangible difference...

I would gladly say, once again, that Bush's administration has been traitorous to the constitution. I don't think I could say the same thing about McCain, even though I think he's duplicitous and untrustworthy.

Haven't people on the sift called McCain/Bush terrorists and traitors? Sifters have certainly called for bodily violence against conservatives, including the raping of Sarah Palin.

True, but people are a lot less inhibited on internet forums. Check a conservative blog, "terrorist" and "traitor" are probably the most mild things you'll find them saying about Obama.

These are people who're yelling this in a crowd, clearly audible on TV broadcasts.

If there's footage of someone yelling similar comments about McCain at an Obama rally, someone needs to YouTube it, and sift it, especially if Obama ignores it, as McCain has done.

Also, it's safe to say no one of any organizational strength is putting out a "terrorist" or "traitor" message from Obama's supporters, much less the campaign itself. McCain couldn't even remotely claim the same for his campaign & campaign allies, who've been pumping out allegations since before the primaries got underway.

I have no doubt what he's said is true, but it's a matter of degree and numbers. The people at McCain's rallies are practically frothing at the mouth as they launch those words from their spittle encrusted mouths. At Obama rallies they're lost in the crowd rather than being the crowd. (I assume there's always at least one idiot doing stuff like that even if I can't seem them)

McCain does seem wrong on the details and degrees, as has been pointed out above, but he unfortunately seems right in the big picture (i.e. you can find liberals who'll say anything, like 'rape Palin.')

I think the message is that it's in our best interest to encourage rationalism on the part of our zealots and partisans, if only because, in the end, they undermine our own efforts for positive change.

Who said that? Which liberal, on this board or elsewhere, said "Rape Palin?"

And did it have anything to do with the way she made rape victims in Wasilla pay for their own rape kits?

chilaxesays...

^It sounds like you're saying (1) you don't believe someone would say that, and (2) you think it would be a justifiable statement.

Here and here are comments from a liberal calling for Palin to be raped. Comedian Sandra Bernhard did so as well.

These are some of the worst examples of excesses on the left, but that trend undermines the legitimacy of our position on the higher ground, and gives conservatives fodder for talking points.
