Should this whole show be posted on Vs?

I'm really asking because I don't know. Louis has said, "Please don't steal from me--I'm just a guy not an evil corporation." (he meant torrent--not embedding--I think) I'm guessing that the Youtube account is from Louis (or, authorized by him). The description, "Some random fat dude totally not famous or whatever do a jokey routine." Sure sounds like something he'd say. Also the title says, "Reference Copy" whatever that means. So, embedding is not disabled--must be okay--Right?

He's trying out a new thing wherein he sells the video in the open--for a very low price--without all the anti-hacking crap. Is posting this helping him--or the corporations who want this experiment to fail?

I'm not sure this should be posted either. If anyone has proved that they are worth paying to see, it's Louis CK. And as you said, this is "just a guy" trying to make a buck, not a corporation charging more than their product is worth. I bought it and yes it probably shouldn't be posted but it should be taken down by the poster...not banned or kicked or anything. The sift has posted tons of links to other peoples work, we identify with Louis CK so we can make a plea to the OP, but in no way should be bring the hammer down as it were.

I am of course the humble and reasonable voice of the sift. Please do not worship me here.

I personally think this should be removed from here. It is $5 people, he wrote, produced and edited it himself and the success (or failure) of this web exclusive $5 show will determine if he does more in the future.

I, for one, am a HUGE Louie CK fan. I paid my $5 as soon as the show was available on his site. I think everyone should do the same. He's given me hours of laughs over the years and the least we can do is give him five measly dollars for all his hard work. After all, the entire $5 goes straight to him.

EDIT: Also, rule #4 from the Videosift FAQ: Please do not post entire episodes of television shows or movies, unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt they are in the public domain. That's what BitTorrent is for.

You make me proud to be a sifter. I'm going to find something in your pqueue that has 9 or so upvotes and upvote it.

Why does Louis CK differ from other copyrighted materials posted here? Its a quality product sure, and its cheap and easy to buy, but so are a lot of other videos posted here. I'm not accusing anyone of hypocrisy here. I'm genuinely curious about the guilt trip for him but not others.

I think it differs in that it's actively being sold right this moment. It's not old, or defunct, or was distributed by a free medium previously (TV, et al).

Glad it was removed. I bought it today. I like him and think everyone who does should support the guy. It's only 5 bucks, and that he openly refused to put any DRM garbage in it hoping that it would overcome piracy by it's own merit is something I support just on principle.
