Landing at La Guardia Airport

Landing at La Guardia Airport - Expressway Visual Approach Runway 31 - Airbus A320.

Cool video, never saw this perspective before.

An amusing related story, I had to drive my sister down to La Guardia from upstate so she could fly back to California. This was 1991 so there was no GPS, I just took a quick glance at my Rand McNally map and said "that should be easy to find, how can you miss an airport?"

Well I fucking missed it and ended up completely lost, ended up on Keap Street down in Brooklyn. I didn't want to risk turning around and getting lost again as her flight was due to leave soon so it took forever to find a cab but she made her flight. Then I had to figure out how to get out of Brooklyn back to upstate. Made it to Manhattan, stopped in Times Square for the usual debauchery (this was before Guliani cleaned it up) then across the George Washington Bridge and up to the NYS Thru-way.

Nicely sterile cockpit (safest best procedure)--and I'm allowing for how he instructs his (female?) first officer in the location of the annoying new buildings ("See how they are in the way?") on the descent. Thank you for sharing this!

Those poor people who live in those new buildings. Unless they are only for deaf people, it must drive them nuts to have every inbound jet plane fly literally only a few hundred ft overhead day and night. Worse than living on the train tracks.

It sounds like at 4:55 he says "I'm sorry, you said Cleared To Land?" Yeah, that's one minor detail you might want to verify on your final approach.
