I find this debate comically absurd, its so amazing that they simply cannot admit that this book was written by fallible human beings. If they'd only admit to this obvious fact, none of this hair-splitting would be needed.

But I do appreciate efforts to make reformations of Islam that might weaken the doctrine the way the Christian doctrine has weakened in the past 200 years to become this abstract, secular mess it currently is(in the more modern forms). Which is much preferred over the "inerrant word of God" interpretations.

I have always been told that Islam specifically forbids reinterpretation of the Quaran (koran?) i.e. its God word and cant be altered in any way. Reza Aslan said (on the Daily show I believe) that this prevents a "Muslim reformation" or modernising of muslim ways (no offense meant to muslims).

I would think that feminist muslims should stop wasting their time and just quit either Islam or feminism.
