The LaRouche movement used to set up tables outside of the Trader Joe's I used to frequent, but they were smart enough to set up on the street and not inside the actual business. Free speech doesn't give you the right to trespass on private property or disrupt ticketed events.

Dunno, doesn't the fact that anyone is welcome to a state fair mean that anyone's crazy ideas are as well? Having people wondering around practicing free speech in a way that is annoying shouldn't have an impact on his ability to practice it. Freedom causes a lot of unpleasantness, like people cursing in front of your kids or something, but we have to put up with those small inconveniences in the name of a greater virtue than comfort.

Is this state fair funded and operated by the state or private individuals? It matters.

If this was a private event, then he was trespassing when they asked him to leave and he cited his right to free speech. If this was a public event (meaning it's funded and operated by the state or city using tax revenue), then he has a right to be there and protest as long as he's not violent or causing an unreasonable disturbance. Right?

The 1st amendment doesn't state that you can say anything that you want whenever you want under any conditions.

If his conduct before his initial encounter with security was similar to his conduct after (during the video), considering the time and place, it could very easily be considered disorderly and inappropriate.

There's a fine line between free speech and screaming at people/flipping out when being asked to leave private property. Sorry, but that guy had a better case for his freedom of speech being violated before he started screaming in people's faces, and yelling insults at anyone that wanted him to quiet down.

Those are pretty pansy charges BTW. Basically yelling insults at people, refusing to leave private property, and screaming about something violent. The video could work against him, at least as far as the Assault 4, and trespass goes.

This protester was hog tackled (quite literally) because he was disturbing the peace. If he hadn't started screaming shit he probably would have been fine. Some rent-a-cops tackling a silent, peaceful demonstrator would have been much more interesting.

I say that if you need to scream "1st Amendment! Freedom of Speech" and all that jazz when you think you're being persecuted, you've probably got your face on backwards.

If the event was in a public area, that is too bad for the event holders.

Freedom of speech should have prevailed.
