Chaucer is correct of course, most kittens will do this but I don't see how that falsifies the cuteness. Its certainly evolutionarily programmed instinctive behavior to allow the mom kitty to find her lost kittens. Its like pressing the alarm button on your key when you're trying to find your car in the parking lot.
