Same designer, just newer tech and all the bugs worked out ON CEDAR POINT's development $$$. I'm glad Cedar Point quit investing in lame 20 second long rides just to go straight fast (fastest) and straight up in the air (tallest). How lame, just shoot people off the top of the Sears tower.

The new ride should be good, they're trying to revitalize the old ghost town of Frontier Land. http://maverick.cedarpoint.com/ride/video/?video_id=1
Nice and long, should be as good as Raptor (the best ride).

Have any of you actually ridden it? Yeah, I wish it was longer, but it's still awesome and is a one of a kind experience.

"A blatant rip off"

Uhh... It's built by the same people. They ripped off themselves?

I was more impressed with Batman & Robin Mr. Freeze thingy, and that was what.. 1999? I've ridden Dragster, and it's about as exciting as any of those generic, at any amusement park type rides. Like a power tower, or whatever. The best rides are Raptor, Magnum XL, Beast, Millennium Force

And no, they ripped off a ride designed for Cedar Point to be the fastest/tallest. And just modified it 2 yrs later to be a clone to steal title of fastest/tallest. It clearly is an attempt buy some "coolness" to another park.

I hate rides. Not because of the experience. But because it's usually a 30 second thrill after about 4 hours of waiting. Only sex warrants such dedicated waiting periods.

Nonsense. I've been on those coasters many many times and they're totally different. No comparison.

Whatever. Knowing that there's a similar coaster somewhere else doesn't make this one feel any less awesome.

Dragster was one of those misstep rides that was kind of a waste of time. Like the Demon Drop was. I remember waiting in line for 2 hours for the Demon Drop when it opened in '83 for a whole 10 second ride, if that. Now they're trying to sell it.

At least with Dragster they started queuing the lines by assigning time tickets, so you didn't have to wait forever. So yeah, I've ridden the original, and it's cool to go really fast, really quickly, but it's not that great and is over too fast.

With Maverick they are taking that magnetic propulsion tech and using it for a proper coaster. It looks like it'll be a great companion piece to the classic Mine Ride in old Frontiertown, while not trying to just quickly one-up the hight and speed records with a cheesy ride.
