Maybe the mom is in denial, but it sounds like the kid probably had a temper tantrum. Regardless, why would the school call the police and have the kid arrested?

Does this mean cops should go around arresting every little kindergarten kid that has a temper tantrums?

oh.. read the youtube comments on this one, idiocracy at its finest.

Downvoted for the annoying ad inserted by a third party into the video. I have no problems with ads inserted by the content producer, but not for those added by a third party which downloaded an internet video, tossed in ads for their web site, and re-released it as their own.

Well speaking for my sister (who is a kindergarten teacher herself)... When a kid goes out of control and throws a tantrum (if the throwing chairs part is true) the teachers can do NOTHING about it... the law and sue happy nature of this country has made it so our teachers are some of the most abused citizens. My sister has been bitten and punched by her less than stellar students... while she still had the bleeding little puncture wound in her arm the mother was saying "my son would never do that... he never acts like this" ... useless parents and spineless administration in schools... it's all downhill

If the little girl did what she is being accused of, then its good she saw some consequences for her actions... with the lax parenting that’s rampant in this country... I wish more kids got called on their rotten behavior

From personal experience, when a kid gets that angry it's usually because they really have been wronged and can't articulate any other form of resistance than violence. I know what it feels like to be treated with utter contempt by some kids and apathy by the rest, for no good reason, to feel like the world has turned its back on you. A lot of children are capriciously malevolent to each other, and teachers often see only the explosion, not the subtle psychological warfare that precedes it. If a kid is well-behaved at home but acts out at school, the influences in the school environment should be closely scrutinized. A 6 year old is not a fully rational agent and is very much shaped by his or her environment. An attempt should be made to find the root causes and reason with the child, not just to further abuse the child with operant conditioning. Those who really understand ethics are at an advantage to those who simply act for fear of punishment and hope of reward.

Being sent to the principal's office to discuss things is far more rehabilitative than being sent to an empty concrete cell.

When a little kid believes in "eye for an eye" because he read it in the bible (once upon a time I did), the situation is even worse.
