Join the Coffee Party Movement!!!

It's about time.

From http://www.coffeepartyusa.com/content/about-us:

We are diverse — ethnically, geographically, politically, in age and in experience.

We are 100% grassroots. No lobbyists here. No pundits. And no hyper-partisan strategists calling the shots in this movement. We are a spontaneous and collective expression of our desire to forge a culture of civic engagement that is solution-oriented, not blame-oriented.

We demand a government that responds to the needs of the majority of its citizens as expressed by our votes and by our voices; NOT corporate interests as expressed by misleading advertisements and campaign contributions.

We want a society in which democracy is treated as sacrosanct and ordinary citizens participate out of a sense of civic duty, civic pride, and a desire to contribute to society. The Coffee Party is a call to action. Our Founding Fathers and Mothers gave us an enduring gift — Democracy — and we must use it to meet the challenges that we face as a nation.

Saw the article in the NYTimes last night, and went to check them out. Frankly, it's just too early and they're too swamped to get any kind of read on them. The only thing I -can- tell you is that their forum software is completely borked...you can read initial posts, but none of the replies.

It probably won't surprise anyone that many of the posts are distinctly tea flavored...I don't know if those are supporters, or detractors, that's not yet clear. I'll be keeping an eye on the whole thing to see where it heads.

Uhh....no. Not remotely the same.

The link makes the point that Park is trying to undermine the Tea Party. Great! That's what I want her to do; the time for no-nothing parties should be over.

Lurchsays...

My point was that the statement quoted above is completely false. She is a partisan strategy analyst from the NYT who actively promotes the Obama campaign. That only makes the whole "100% grassroots" look completely bogus. She says that the focus is not to undermine the tea party, but then contradicts herself by saying it is about undermining the tea party. Same shit, different party. Only looks different because this one is more in line with your personal views.

longdesays...

This party may not be '100% Grassroots', like the Dick Armey funded TeaParty, but you haven't proven it by stating she worked (she is a former analyst) for the NYT.

To your other point, in the first 30 seconds of the video, she explicitly states her movement is in response to the Tea Party. It's obvious she wants to undermine Tea Party tactics and the Tea Party. Where did she say her focus is not to undermine the tea party?
