Iraq Vets Outrage At Army's "Debt Of Service" Claim.

Reading the comments left on LiveLeak, its not entirely clear what happened. There's even a small chance of fraud on the part of the soldier. All I'm saying is that we should probably not jump on the emotional bandwagon here before more facts are known. Chances are it was a clerical error that does need to be cleared up, but I'm not about to don my tinfoil hat just quite yet.

What an insult. He should stand in front of an army recruiting office advising the young and innocent as to how thay are gonna get repaid. I'll bet things would start to happen then.

wtf. it's just a bill without saying what it's for. no appeal process. that totally sucks, even if this guy is a fraud. call your congressman? fuck!

Irishman,

as far as that guy that lost his arm - He has no right to bitch about it. Every month service members are supposed to check their LES (Leave and Earnings Statement) to ensure that they are being paid only what they rate. If he didn't bother to check it, then it's his fault.
I had the same thing happen to me. When I got back, I was still being paid, but I didn't catch it for a few months and had to repay them about $600.
Another thing that article said is that he has the right to to work out a prepayment schedule. It says so right on the LES.
