yup it was an anti-war and particularly anti-Vietnam political commentary disguised as a Korean Conflict serio-comedy. Wonder if anybody would dare to do the same today about Iraq.

Here in the UK the bbc bought the rights but edited out all the canned laughter. Latterly it's being repeated on Paramount comedy and I can't watch it.. the canned laughter is terrible, it's way way way b better without it.

Yes, lyrics to the song "Suicide is Painless" were featured in the original movie... and I'm in agreement about the laugh track, I've now watched several seasons of it from the dvds with the laugh track off and I gotta say, I don't miss it.
