hueco_tankssays...Surprising result... they missed a turn and a half (I think they say 2 when it is really 3.5) going 'forward' and had to make it up going the other way... in an experiment where counting the number of turns is so critical to the 'aha' moment, you would think they'd keep better track.
antsays...* fake?
xxovercastxxsays...That's the most viscous water I've ever seen. Also, as HT said, I'm skeptical of any physicist who can't correctly count to 5.
pragmaticksays...No frickin way. Cool stuff.
cheesemoosays...Wikipedia says that's probably glycerin, not water. Neat demo!
zomggsays...He states that the flow is laminar because the Reynold's number is less than one. What he really means is it is less than the critical number to transition to turbulent flow (~2300 in a pipe, varies for other flow conditions). Still cool, but that bugged me.
More info for those interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynold%27s_number
somegeeksays...That was a very cool demo.
Nebosukesays...I'm dating a physicist. They do such advanced, mind blowing math that sometimes I think she does have trouble with simple math like addition.
direpicklesays...For real. I'm a physicist, and I wouldn't trust one that could correctly count to five.
karaidlsays...Cool - physicists on the Sift. Would anyone of you mind uninventing gravity? It's starting to annoy the hell out of me.
rbarsays...Gravity uninvented.
Can you try it by jumping of something high?
k8_fansays...That is absolutely delightful!
jwraysays...The droplets don't actually mix... if you looked down from the top you would have seen concentric rings of color
shatterdrosesays...They counted 6 the first time around because they started counting late and couldn't remember where they started, and on the way back, when they got to fix, they stopped at 4.5 before realizing it.
loorissays...did anyone notice the gorilla in the background?
loorissays...oh, wait, wrong video
btw, she's got a ring, he does not. Dunno why I noticed.
