"Innovative" hologram arcade technology: Time Traveler!

(1991) Despite the 'hologram' name, Time Traveler was just a trick with mirrors and a laserdisc player. You played the role of Marshal Graham, a cowboy from the American Old West, who a future princess' computers have selected as the most likely candidate to defeat a mad scientist from the future whose time experiments have "shattered" time. He can shoot some enemies, but others he must outmaneuver or fight hand-to-hand.
I believe there was a home version of this too…

I remember this game, and the quarters I sunk into it. I never saw much of a plot to it but it was a pretty neat gimmick for its time. It was basically the same as the old laser disk games (i.e. Space Ace, Dragons Lair et al.) where subtle visual cues directed you to make a quick jerk reaction and progress through the levels.

While the game was, shall we say, less than stellar, the trick with mirrors to make it "look 3D" was rather well done. It's too bad some other game didn't really take that idea and make a game that was actually worth playing. (that is, not LaserDisk based)

Definintely pumped about $100 altogether in this one over the couple years I worked at a coffee shop in the mall. Come to think of it, that was the last arcade I ever saw in existence... lasted until sometime into 1994. Lotsa GTs playing Street Fighter 2, Hard Drivin, and Terminator 2 pinball.
