"Tor Eckhoff went through the ice - dead

It was 57-year-old Tor Eckhoff who walked through the ice. The relatives are aware that the name is being published, the police say.

It was Sandefjords Blad that first mentioned the case.

Eckhoff was alone at Jakobs Dam, where he walked through the ice. He was found by rescue divers, and life-saving efforts were made on the spot. Eckhoff was flown by air ambulance to Ullevål hospital, where he, unfortunately, died on Saturday 27 November, the police write in a press release.

According to the local newspaper, Eckhoff was known as "Apetor" online. He had over 1.1 million subscriptions on Youtube. His most watched video was streamed 94 million times on Sunday.

His cohabitant writes in a post on Facebook that something "went terribly wrong" that Friday.

"Friday 26 November was a normal Friday. You went to a lake near Kongsberg, and you looked forward to ice skating. You should also film a little, which you would use in a video on youtube. You sent me a message when you arrived, with pictures of yourself and the water. Nice conditions, you wrote. "

She continues:

"But something went terribly wrong. You ended up in the ice water, and this time you did not get up again, as you have done so many times before. In the end, you were picked up by divers and sent by air ambulance to Ullevål hospital. They did everything they could to bring you back to life, but you had been underwater for too long. (...) We have endless good memories, and we miss you so indescribably! ”

The police inform Dagbladet that there were no witnesses to the incident in Kongsberg.

- There is reason to believe that it happened in connection with a recording, but beyond that, I have no comment, says on-duty police attorney Thomas Kragelund.

Eckhoff has been posting videos on his YouTube channel for years and was known for his stunts and ice bathing."
BSRsays...

He died doing what he loved. Drinking himself to death. Too much water.
