They are the kind of things that if you eat one, then drink soda, it feels like you mouth is bubbling over. They are also particularly bad tasting with orange juice. I dont know any common-in-US equivalent, but is like a mint, with strong lacrol taste.

Fisherman's Friend, reminds me of "Fisherman's Hanky" That's when you seal one nosril with your hand and just blow hard - expelling whatever's in the other nostril into the sea. (or street)

They are very strong mints with Liquorice taste, if that makes sense I didnt know the word/spelling for "Liquorice" so I had to look it up, find the latin word, and then find the english word

Fisherman's friend are available every place I have lived in the USA. CT, PA, NC, IL. Not huge brand over here but around if you look in the areas they might have cough drops. VERY STRONG.
